Hair change...lol... AGAIN???

Being bored can lead people to do crazy things. For instance, me... It has led me to cut my own hair. LOL, yes thats right, I took scissors to my own hair this week. I went on youtube. I searched ROCKABILLY HAIR (I LOVE LOVE LOVE this style). I found many hair tutorials on youtube. Then I finally found exactly what I was looking for, the Bettie Page bangs!!!! I watched several tutorials on how to cut your own "Bettie Page" bangs and then went off to do it myself. Was I scared at first? Of course I was...lol... I was taking scissors to my own hair. I got over it and did it. No regrets here. I am very daring when it comes to my hair. I live by the philosophy that it grows back....lol

Here is a pic of the finished product. Hope you like it because I know I do!!!

When I first finished cutting the bangs (Excuse the makeup, it came out harsh in the camera. I just had lipstick and eyeliner...lol)

Hair styled the next day for work

Okay, everyone til next time. xoxo

Exploring and Enjoying New Foods

Learning to enjoy good foods is very hard, especially when you are so locked into thinking that good foods don’t really taste good.

As I continue in making and incorporating small changes into my diet, I have discovered something very surprising. Foods in their natural state taste pretty good. What do I mean by that? Well, let me explain it to you from my point of view. I am Puerto Rican which means we cook with lots of seasoning. We use a lot of fresh ingredients like Garlic, Onions, Peppers, Cilantro, etc BUT we also use things like Adobo and sazon. These seasonings make the food flavorful but also have a lot of sodium. I’ve cut back on using adobo and sazon. I now use it on a rare occasion (maybe once every 2 months when I do a traditional Puerto Rican Meal). I just use more garlic, onions, peppers, etc. I now use salt, pepper and garlic to give taste to most of my meats. Letting the natural taste of the meats shine through has proven to be pretty tasty. The fresh ingredients compliment the meats in a lovely and tasteful way.
I have been eating more and more raw veggies. I do steam them at times and add some EVOO, salt and garlic to them for a change but I really do enjoy eating raw broccoli, carrots, lettuce, tomato, etc. The broccoli is a fun snack to have instead of the regular bag of chips. Baby carrots are so yummy with hummus or even ranch dressing. I try to incorporate lettuce and tomatoes drizzled with lemon juice and Evoo with a little bit of salt into every meal.

I also enjoy the Whole Natural Almonds. They are super yummy and satisfying. They have a slight nutty yet sweet taste. They are great in salads or as a snack.

Fresh fruits are great as well. I love bananas, apples, oranges, etc.

Eating healthy doesn’t mean I have to settle for foods I don’t enjoy. It means exploring what is out there and taking advantage of all the yummy foods available. Exploring new foods and venturing out to new tastes.

Here are some of my favorite snack foods:
Baby Carrots
Cherry Tomatoes
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Almonds
Apples
Bananas
Green/Red/Yellow Peppers

Farmers Markets = Yummy Savings

I love to shop. I don't care what it is that I am shopping for, I really enjoy it. I love shopping for clothes, makeup, shoes, food, others, etc. More than shopping I enjoy a great bargain. I am trying to get into doing the coupon thing (though I don't know how well that will work for me since organization is not my strong point. Ask hubby!...lol). In the mean time I love to buy things on sale, especially food. The problem is that when you are trying to eat healthier and cleaner... Everything is super expensive in the supermarket. Even the "sales" aren't really sales. I've spent $50 on just veggies and fruits at the supermarket in the past. The worst part is that this stuff usually goes bad after a couple of days. Double bummer!

I love going to my local Farmers Market because you get to pick from local veggies and fruits. They are super affordable and yummy. To me, they smell yummier, taste yummier and just last so much longer. I went to the farmers market yesterday after the supermarket and guess how much I spent? READY??? I only spent $25 and I came home with lots of goodies. I got some raspberries, bananas, carrots, celery, broccoli, plum tomatoes, sweet potatoes, lettuce, grape tomatoes, green beans and sun dried tomatoes (these are super expensive in the supermarket yet I paid only $2.49 there). All the yummines for a fraction of the price.

Support your local farmers market and also get the best of what the season has to offer!!!

OUCH to the 100th power

I've been getting back on track with my workouts. I need to lose lots of weight and I need to get healthy. I want to be able to shop off the rack and fit into my jeans nicely. I also want to have another baby but with this weight, it is pretty hard and just not the wise thing to do.

WOW!!! Talk about a workout. I went to the gym yesterday with my friend & workout buddy Lisa. We took a Spin Class. My FIRST spin class ever. I have to say... What a workout. This class really kicked my rear. I was sweating like I've never sweat before. I was in pain too. The seats on those bikes are made for male and female but I think mostly male because a woman's sit bones are further apart than a man's therefore when I sat on that seat for an hour, I was in what I call never ending pain. I do have to say it was a great workout. I was able to finish the class and also I didn't give up no matter how much I wanted to do so. It was hard to stay on there and keep going but I am determined and I knew I could do it. Having Lisa motivate me helped even more. The minute I stepped off that bike, I felt sooooo much better. I felt accomplished. I didn't give up. I am looking forward to the next class just with a cushion because the pain is a little hard to handle depending on how well you take pain.

The soreness of the rear is a little harder to take the next day. Today I can't barely walk or sit but I hear it gets better as you do it more often. I hope it gets better pronto because a sore rump when you work sitting isn't ideal....lol

I do recommend Spin. I would try a beginners class. Mine wasn't a beginners but I am so proud that I finished. Can't wait to see the results in the months to come.

Will keep you guys updated!!!! I will try to keep a daily entry on here of my progress and what I did for the day. If not daily then weekly. I enjoy sharing these kinds of things because I like to see it written down so that I can see the progress. I am starting with short term goals so that I can reach my long term one.

Okay, everyone til next time.

All a girl needs is a little motivation

I can sit here and give you all the Medical Reasons why a person should live an active lifestyle and why they need to get healthy but I won’t. The reason for that is because we all (well, most of us) know those reasons already and the more people tell us, the more annoying it gets. We know what we need to do and why… Doing it is the hard part. Getting into a routine is pretty killer for me because I always get discouraged and disappointed. Another discouragement is going at it alone. There is nothing worst for me than to have to DRAG myself to the gym alone and then be on a machine ALONE for the next 30 minutes. Those 30 minutes are agony. Another down fall for me is restrictions in foods. Every time I tell myself I am going to stop eating this and that (even if I don’t ever over do it in the first place), I end up eating more than what I would normally eat because it is a forbidden food.

I know all the reasons I have to get healthy. I want to look sexy, I want to feel good, I want to shop off the rack, and I want to RUN (yes, run... My goal is to get to a weight in which running will come easy), I want to have another baby; I want to play football with my boys and not get exhausted… I can go on and on and on with my “Wish List”. Making those wishes into reality has been a little or let’s keep it real, it’s been REALLY hard. My goal this time is to make MY wishes come true!!! I will take it one day at a time. No more fad diets, etc. This is a life style change and I will allow myself to fall because I can learn from my mistakes.

Finding support is very important for me this time around. I’ve always tried to do it alone and I always fail at it. I need to be able to be held accountable and I know that if I have a support system, this will be just a tad bit easier. Losing weight is not easy but when you have support, it is more doable.

Food is really never my culprit. Restricting the foods is my downfall. For some reason each time I tell myself I can’t eat that or that or that… Guess what? I want that and that and that. I have come to the conclusion that there is no need to restrict myself from foods. I just have to learn to ALSO add the good foods and most important pay attention to my “serving sizes”. Even too much of a good thing isn’t good.

I will try to keep a daily entry on here of my progress and what I did for the day. I enjoy sharing these kinds of things because I like to see it written down so that I can see the progress. I am starting with short term goals so that I can reach my long term one.

Allergies and more...

The week started out off for me. I woke up yesterday with the worst allergies ever. The tickle in my throat got worst and worst as the hours went by. I went home for lunch and had to stay in bed because I just felt so sick all of a sudden. I finally got up and cooked for the family and I fell back asleep leaving the food cooking. Woke up startled because I remembered that I had chicken cooking. Well, the chicken didn't burn but it almost did. All the sauce evaporated so it went from being Stewed Chicken to just Chicken and Carrots...lol

This is what I was aiming for: ---So not what I got but it was good never the less!

Well, I went back to bed. Watched some TV and some YT vids. Still not feeling all that great. All of a sudden I got a cough attack. The worst cough attack ever. To the point where I even threw up..Sorry TMI but I was bugging because I couldn't control the cough. Needless to say the cough continued and so did the barfing because the cough was really bad. Thank God hubby got home with meds for the Vaporizer and I kinda slept all night.

To top it all off my BB stopped working on Sunday. It just froze. I couldn't open any text which I had about 19 and I couldn't see any emails, etc. The calls would come through but I couldn't answer it. I was so frustrated because on top of that, I lost all the information I had saved under my Notes - such as User Names and Passwords, etc. How frustrating is that? Ugggg. Now I have to go back to my old Pixie which isn't too bad but the battery sucks. So disappointed on BB. They don't even have a number where you can call for assistance unless you have an account of some sort with them. The worst of the worst. I am so mad because it was a Christmas day gift and now I no longer have it. Oh well. I guess I need to buy another phone.

Well, this is it for now. Just wanted to share a little something with you guys. Have a wonderful day!!!

MyMother's day....

I woke up to a soft kiss on my forehead from my wonderful husband and a mothers day card. We had to get ready for church so I got up and began to get myself ready. He had the boys getting ready and he was all ready to go.

He knows me soooooooo well. The first thing he had prepared for me was my cup of coffee because he knows that makes me happy...lol... Then he proceeded with making me breakfast. That was the sweetest thing ever.

Soon after I was done with breakfast, my youngest son rushed in the room with the card and flower he had for me which he worked really hard to put together himself at school. Very sweet card and lovely little flower. He couldn't wait for his brother to get up so he gave me the card that they had picked out for me. The coolest card ever. It sand "Amazing Mom" (with the tune of Amazing Grace :O) )... I love the "from the heart gifts". They just mean so much more to me.

We went to church and the service was awesome. My favorite sermon to date. I have to say that I have a wonderful church and Pastor.

After church we went out to lunch and enjoyed some beautiful family time together before my hubby had to run off to work.

I spent the afternoon napping and watching a movie. We got pizza for dinner. I put the kids in bed by 9:30p as usual and then I waited for hubby to get home so that I could get a few extra minutes with him before having to go to sleep due to work the next day.

I am a very blessed woman. I have a wonderful husband and 2 beautiful boys that mean the world to me. I enjoy their company each and everyday.

Check out my Youtube page for my latest video and Mother's day message!!!

I hope everyone had a great Mother's day!

Better late than never, RIGHT???

Ok, I know I am late but better late than never, RIGHT???

For quite a while now I’ve heard girls on Youtube talk about a certain product. They refer to it as their favorite, go to, holy grail product. This one product type tends to be a hit or miss for me. Some work nicely, some don’t. This is why I am so late at trying it out. This is the Loreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black.

Voluminous Carbon Black

I was a little hesitant at first. I looked in several stores to see if I could find a good price because I couldn’t see myself paying $8 or $9 for a mascara that I may hate. After a few searches I finally gave in and purchased mine at Walgreens  for about $7 (I got mine in waterproof because I have allergies and I hate mascara smears). Talk about amazing stuff. It has a regular mascara brush, which I don’t mind because I like them. The formula wasn’t as thick as I am used to so I was a little scared when I started putting it on. I started on my right eye and immediately I saw a wonderful coat of mascara on my lashes. I went to the next eye and coated my lashes as well. Came back to my right eye to see if it would be impossible to build up lashes like with some other mascaras. Sometimes with certain mascaras they dry so fast that you can’t build your lashes because they are too stiff and also because the end up flaking if you try to build them up. This mascara made it easy for me to build lashes and add volume ( I am a sucker for long and thick lashes). Another plus is that I don’t have to wear false lashes if I don’t want to!!!! I was amazed at how easy it was to use. It just went on nice, smooth and fast without clumping. It defined my lashes nicely too. A great find indeed.

Thank you to all the wonderful girls on youtube that have reviewed and raved about this mascara. This is going on my faves list for sure!!!!
Well, this is it for now. Just wanted to share a little something with you guys. Have a wonderful day!!!

Okay, everyone til next time.

Confetti and 10 Professional Nail Lacquer

A quick blog on 2 Nail Polish Brands from CVS - Confetti and 10 Professional Nail Lacquers. (I think I heard 10 Pro is the "High End" version of Confetti)

A while back I had gone into CVS and bought a few nail polish by the brand Confetti. I purchased a few colors. Some of the colors I purchased were "Happy Birthday", "Silver Slippers" and "MoonStruck" to name a few. The colors immediately caught my attention. They are beautiful and vibrant. "Happy Birthday" is a gorgeous purple with hints of shimmer. "Silver Slippers" which was my favorite color, is a beautiful silver/pink color. "Moon Struck" is a lovely taupe color.

"Happy Birthday"

"Silver Slippers"

"MoonStruck"

These colors looked fantastic in the bottles. They were vibrant and just captivating. I found that "Happy Birthday" was a little too watery and thin. This caused me to have to apply more than 2 coats which I really don't like doing because I end up messing up my nails due to the time it takes to dry. "Silver Slippers" was my favorite off the back. The color just called me out. It applied nice and thick, needing only 2 coats, dried nicely but it chipped after 1 day. I was very disappointed. My hand nails usually chip quickly because I have oily nail beds but even on my toes it just chipped quick. This never happens even with the cheaper brands. I was sad that I just couldn't like it no matter how much I wanted to love it. "MoonStruck" applied nicely and dried quickly but it just didn't last as long as I wanted it to. Some of the colors I would use for Pedicures because they do last on my Pedis but as a Nail Polish I wouldn't be able to because they chip quickly.

The Price was fantastic. $1.99 can't be beat. Awesome price.

Yesterday, I purchased 10 Professional Nail Lacquer for the firs time ever. I've seen it quite a few times when entering my local CVS but I was a little hesitant because I was afraid of the final product. I purchased the color "Showtime". Elegant taupe color. Very neutral and fun. As soon as I tried it, I found it just amazing. Thick and easy to apply. Pretty fast drying. Dries to a beautiful finish. I would definitely purchase this brand of nail polish again. The price wasn't bad either. I paid $4.99.

"Showtime"

Rain but Feeling Great!

It's a rainy day in the neighborhood. It is very gloomy and a bit cool out today. Despite the weather I am feeling a great. Well, emotionally that is, physically my allergies are making my nose and head hurt a tad bit. I won't let that get me down though. It's a new day which means a new blessing!

Wearing my favorite Candie's Dahrma Peep-Toe Dress Heels. They are fab. Love them to pieces. Super comfy and just plain ole stylish. They are in taupe (neutral) which makes them great with any outfit. The heel is pretty high (4 1/2-in.) but so easy to walk in them. Feeling so stylish today!

I found the best false lashes for me since I wear glasses. They are the Ardell Accents Lashes Black 301. Love, Love, Love them. They fit perfectly. They accent my eyes without looking very false. They are very comfortable with my glasses. They wear long and curl nicely.

I find it exciting to share new finds with everyone. These lashes are super cute and so worth it. Will definitely buy more. They were about $5.99 for the pack. Not bad in price.

Well, this is it for now. Just wanted to share a little something with you guys. Have a wonderful day!!!

Pink eye, Congestion and a busy schedule!!!!

They say April showers bring may flowers but let me tell you, this April left me super sick. I have so much congestion going on. The cough is unbearable at night which means a VERY cranky mom in the morning...lol

Well, my little man is home sick with pink eye. Ewww pink eye. Hubby had to pick him up from school yesterday and spend the afternoon at doctors plus pharmacy. $60 later they are finally home with a small bottle of eye drops which is so small I was surprised it cost so much and a Nasonex spray because he has allergies as well. I was hoping to catch some extra zzzz's this morning since he didn't have to go to school but of course this is the day that he wakes up at 6:30a and won't go back to bed. So, now not only do I have a headache because I really didn't sleep but I am moody because I really dislike so much noise early in the AM. I am so not a morning person.

Yesterday was a pretty busy day for me. Work, then home for a bit and then back out the door for a meeting. The meeting was for a weightloss program called the Transition program. Sat there for about an 1 1/2 hrs. Everything was very interesting and I would love to learn more but it is a little out of my reach this time around. Though the program seems very doable and inexpensive. The upfront payment makes it hard. It is a 12 wks program, the cost is $240 which comes out to $20 a week, for every meeting you go to you get $5 back so it comes out to roughly $180 for the 12 wks. Thats all good but if you don't have $240 to dish out right off the back then you can't do it. Which is my case. $240 is a big chunk of change when you live on a budget and have to make every dollar count. If they would have said $20 a week then it would be so much more doable for me. Plus, you have to buy a Cleanse which is for a week and the cost is $42. So now the total is $282. It's all good. I absorbed quite a bit of information. I will do my research and come up with something more affordable and that will work for me. I need to lose weight and I know I can do it. More to come on weightloss, etc.

So, to finish off... My day looks like this today --> make breakfast for Sam --> try to get some work done -->at lunch time go to my job get my paycheck and do some food shopping --> then off to church tonight to help out for a special event going on. My schedule is packed but its all good.

Okay, everyone til next time.

I LOVE Target...

Pretty awesome day out there today. Hope you are enjoying it.

Well, this quick blog is about Target. I had not visited Target in a while (couple of months maybe) because it is a couple of towns away and just out of the way. Hubby and I decided to take a ride yesterday and ended up at Target. Oh how I wish Target was closer. I love that store. They have updated the store and there are so many great things in there now. Our Target has a mini supermarket type section going on. The things are so affordable and everything is just gorgeous.

Well, I went with a couple of things in mind. Well, more like window shopping and giving hubby ideas for Mother's Day.

I am so in love with their black candle pillar holders. They are just so chic and fab. They will go perfect on my newly distressed dresser (which I did myself). They are the perfect size and color for the dresser. I so want them and if I don't get them as a gift, I am definitely getting them myself. Here is a picture of the dresser and the candle pillar:

I am also looking to get some lamps from Target for my side table. I saw a couple of options but I haven't decided which I would like to purchase yet. I also distressed my side tables and I am in love with the new look. Here is a peek:

Target has so many great things and you just want to buy all of it. I spent quite a bit of time just going from isle to isle loving everything they have to offer. The highlight of the day for me was when I reached the makeup section. Oh the abundance of greatness there. They had affordable things and also some pricey ones but I was in love with almost everything. I was swatching almost everything. Just taking in the moment as I walked the 3 isles of makeup goodness. Then just then I stumbled upon one great discovery. This Target now carries ELF. Yes, that's right ELF. I don't have to order on line any longer and wait 3 weeks to receive my package of goodies. I was so excited to make this discovery. They had all sorts of ELF products. If you know ELF you know that they are VERY affordable and pretty good for the price. I have a few of their things such as the eyeshadow brushes, blush brush, etc and I love them. Now I can go directly to Target and purchase them there without having to wait or pay shipping. I did or course buy a couple of things. I was good and just bought a couple. I bought the ELF eyeshadow Primer because I have heard lots of girls on YT talk about it. I also bought the makeup setting mist/spray. I am excited to use both items. Total of my purchase???? $4.00. $1.00 for the Primer and $3.00 for the spray. How awesome is that? I shall return to Target for more goodies in the future.

Now if only they carried NYX. Then I would be truly ecstatic...LOL

Okay, everyone til next time.

Every Little Girl's Dream - Royal Wedding!!!

To be honest with you, 4:30a was a little too early for me to get up to see the Royal Wedding. That said, I did catch it on TLC at 11:00p and I was in awe. Here is my take on this wonderful occasion.:

Let's start with the guest - I loved all the Big Hats and Hair pieces. So chic and fashionable. Loved it. The outfits/dresses were so stylish. Victoria Beckham for example was truly stunning and her husband just looked as handsome as ever. Kate's mom was very elegant and her sister was truly stunning. The Queen looked super cute in her yellow dress (which is her fave color). Now to the Prince - He looked so handsome and elegant. The perfect picture of what every little girl dreamt her Prince would look like. Kate (we know its really always about the bride) - Her dress was just so amazingly beautiful, modest, simple and stunning. The delicate lace just added the perfect touch of elegance. The veil, tiara and bouquet complimented the dress and each other perfectly. Her makeup was very modest and elegant. They are saying she did it herself. I think that is pretty awesome. I did my own makeup for my wedding and it just feels that much more special. She did an amazing job on her makeup. She just looked so breathtaking.

One of my favorite parts was when the Prince saw her as she stood by him at the altar with her dad. His face was priceless. The smile on his face just said it all. No words needed to say what he was thinking. It was so touching when they exchanged smiles at the altar and then he leaned over and winked at his father in law.

The vows were simple and classic yet touching. Loved the reading by the Priests and also by Kate's brother. The moment Prince William placed the ring on Kate was the moment that it made it completely real to me. That was just the perfect moment with the most beautiful promises (he repeated these words: With this ring I thee wed. With my body I thee honor and all my worldly goods with you I share). I also loved the prayer by the priest. Just a beautiful ceremony. A fairytale wedding ceremony in deed.

After the signing, they emerged to view the public and they just looked simply amazing as they exited the Westminster Abbey.

OK, I think everyone was expecting a kiss right away but it just didn't happen. The wait was just so edge of your seat for me because that seals everything...lol...Just my thought!

The Chariot ride was a wonderful part of the wedding. I've always wanted to have a chariot ride. It just adds the perfect touch to the wedding. The horses were just stunning. The crowds were so happy to see them. The cheers were so amazing. The people were in love with the new couple! The roars were getting louder and louder by the second. How exciting is that!!!!

As they entered the gates of Buckingham palace, it was all so suspenseful. I was just so excited to see it all happen. It just felt as if I was right there, even though I was sitting on my bed watching it over the TV.

The first kiss I think is the most looked forward moment. As the doors opened I got nervous and excited. They came out smiling and waving.  They just looked sooooo gorgeous! Soon after the couple came out, the members of the family and the Royal family came out. Then, the most awaited moment happened "The first Kiss" It was soo quick. If you blinked, you missed it like I did. It was just so quick. It was very modest but it was sweet. I loved that TLC played it in slow motion because I missed it the first time it happened. LOL. The crowd went wild when that kiss happened. I had a huge kool-aid smile on my face.

The fly-by by the Royal Air force was amazing. Everyone including the Royal couple looked up to the sky as the jets flew on by. It was just amazing!

The Royal Wedding was just a truly spectacular event. It was just amazing and breath taking. From the moment she step out of the car to the moment they kissed on that balcony, everything was just dreamy. Truly a fairytale wedding in deed.

Many blessings to Prince William His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge and Miss Catherine Middleton Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge!!!

It's been a while...

It's been a very long time since I've blogged. I've been so busy and honestly have forgotten to come in and just give a quick update, etc. In reality this is not an excuse. We make the time and I should be more responsible when it comes to my blogging. I will try my best to come and update my blog frequently.

Since my last blog... My hair went from brown to red to black...lol... I've had it black for a while now. I've also been letting it grow out but already its becoming a hassle...lol... The short hair just seems much easier to manage.

Brown

Red

Black

In March, hubby and I were blessed with a niece (God Daughter) which we've waited 15 yrs to arrive. After 15 yrs of trying, my sister in law and her wonderful husband were blessed with our little munchkin!!!
Gigi and Me... She is a little fashionista already!!!

In the process, I've been trying to get healthy so that hubby and I can start trying for another baby. It's been pretty tough since I have PCOS and it makes it really hard to lose the weight. I know I can do this, it is just going to take hard work and perseverance. At the end we will be blessed when we hold our baby. We are hoping for a little girl but will be truly blessed with either one!!! Send baby dust our way please!!!!

I've also been working on some home projects in my apartment and just getting it summer ready.
